Coven · Tune In
Coven is an American rock band formed in Chicago in the late 1960s, fronted by vocalist Jinx Dawson. Pioneers of occult rock — their 1969 debut Witchcraft Destroys Minds & Reaps Souls predated Black Sabbath and is credited with introducing the "sign of the horns" gesture to rock. Had a top-40 hit in 1971 with "One Tin Soldier" (theme from Billy Jack). Album was pulled from circulation following a 1970 Esquire feature linking occult counterculture to the Manson murders. Active in revival form in the 2010s/2020s.
