Earth, Wind & Fire is an American band founded in Chicago in 1969 by Maurice White (d. 2016). One of the best-selling and most acclaimed bands of the 1970s and beyond, they pioneered a fusion of funk, soul, R&B, jazz, disco, pop, and African music. Rock and Roll Hall of Fame (2000), Vocal Group Hall of Fame (2003), 9 Grammys. Current lineup includes Verdine White (bass), Philip Bailey (vocals), Ralph Johnson (vocals/percussion).
