Mateo Briscoe is a singer-songwriter born and raised in Sacramento, California, who also performs as Local Slothboi. A transgender (FTM) artist, he first learned clarinet through a public-school program, then merged soulful poems with punk-folk power chords after receiving an acoustic guitar. Drawing on influences like Amy Winehouse and Tracy Chapman alongside pop, pop-rock, pop-punk, and indie pop, his songs cover self-love, family, inner demons, anxiety, and everyday life. He built his following from open-mic nights and has played Sacramento venues including Holy Diver, The Boardwalk, Harlow's, and Ace of Spades, plus Bay Area rooms.
