Renewer is a Sacramento, California band working in the doomgaze vein — a blend of shoegaze's lush, melodic wash with the weight of doom and sludge metal. The group describes its sound as interweaving "spellbound lushness and beautiful heaviness," layering melody and string arrangements against crushing, slowed-down riffs and post-rock dynamics. Their debut full-length, Sunne, was released February 23, 2024 on Transylvanian Recordings, recorded and mixed by Jack Shirley at Atomic Garden East (Oakland) with vocals captured by Patrick Hills at Earthtone Studios in Sacramento. Members include Travis Quinn, Robbie Landsburg, and Evan Bailey.
