About
The Short Version

Sigh is a Japanese experimental/avant-garde black metal band from Tokyo, formed in 1989 by Mirai Kawashima (vocals/keys/bass). One of the earliest non-European black metal acts; debut Scorn Defeat (1993) pioneered symphonic black metal. Their catalog has incorporated classical, jazz, prog, world music, and traditional Japanese instrumentation. Recent albums: Heir to Despair (2018), Shiki (2022), I Saw the World's End – Hangman's Hymn MMXXV (2025).
