“Curren$y (born Shante Scott Franklin, April 4, 1981) is a New Orleans rapper who built one of the most respected independent hip-hop catalogs of the past two decades. After early stints with Master P's No Limit and a brief run with Cash Money/Young Money in the mid-2000s, he founded Jet Life Recordings in 2011 and turned a relentless mixtape work ethic into a sustainable career — pioneering what he calls "luxury rap" alongside Trademark da Skydiver, Young Roddy, and the wider Jet Life crew. His 2015 single "Bottom of the Bottle" feat. Lil Wayne and August Alsina remains his sole Billboard Hot 100 entry, but his deep, cult-following catalog — Pilot Talk, Weekend at Burnie's, Canal Street Confidential, and dozens of collaborative projects — is his real legacy.”
