“GBH (originally Charged GBH) are an English punk rock band formed in Birmingham in 1978 by vocalist Colin Abrahall, guitarist Colin "Jock" Blyth, bassist Sean McCarthy (later replaced by Ross Lomas), and drummer Andy "Wilf" Williams. Alongside Discharge, The Exploited, and The Varukers, they were pioneers of the early-1980s British street-punk movement often nicknamed "UK 82." Their 1982 debut City Baby Attacked by Rats hit #2 on the UK Indie Chart and #17 on the UK Albums Chart and remains a touchstone for hardcore punk worldwide. Nearly five decades on, GBH have stayed remarkably faithful to their original sound while quietly becoming one of the most influential bands in extreme music — name-checked by early Bathory, Hellhammer/Celtic Frost, Exodus, and every member of the thrash "big four."”
