“Grandaddy are an American indie-rock band formed in 1992 in Modesto, California by singer/guitarist/keyboardist Jason Lytle, bassist Kevin Garcia, and drummer Aaron Burtch — a former pro skateboarder turned songwriter after a knee injury forced him off the board. Their 2000 sophomore LP The Sophtware Slump — widely called "America's OK Computer" — elevated them from cult obscurity with 11 DIY symphonies lamenting the uneasy coexistence of technology and nature. The band dissolved in 2006 and weathered the 2017 death of Kevin Garcia, before Lytle revived the name in 2024 for Blu Wav and the 25th-anniversary Sophtware Slump reunion tour.”
