Frequently Asked
FAQ
Common questions about Sacramento live music and how Sac Setlist covers the scene.
About the site
- What is Sac Setlist?
- Sac Setlist is Sacramento's music media platform — shows, venues, artists, stories, and an archive of local music history. Loud and local since 2019.
- Which areas do you cover?
- Sacramento and the surrounding region. We're anchored on Sacramento venues and artists, expanding outward as the scene takes us.
- How often is the calendar updated?
- Multiple times a day. Automated discovery agents run twice daily, with continuous editorial review and fixes layered on top.
Finding shows
- How do I find live music happening tonight or this weekend?
- Head to /events — the calendar is filterable by date, genre, and venue.
- How do I find all-ages shows in Sacramento?
- Each event page lists the venue's age policy. On /venues you can browse age policies per venue.
- How accurate are event times and lineups?
- We pull from venues, promoters, and editorial verification. If you spot something wrong, use /submit and we'll fix it fast.
Tickets and venue policies
- Do you sell tickets, and what about parking, age policies, or accessibility?
- We don't sell tickets — every event page links to the venue or promoter for tickets. Venue policies (age, parking, accessibility, re-entry, bag rules) vary; each venue page on /venues lists what we know, or contact the venue directly.
Open mics
- Where can I do an open mic in Sacramento?
- Sac Setlist maintains a community-verified directory at /open-mics, organized by night of the week and genre. Each listing shows the host, signup process, and cost.
- How do I sign up for an open mic listed on Sac Setlist?
- Each listing includes the host's signup process. We don't run the open mics ourselves — we maintain the directory.
Bands and submissions
- How do I get my show listed?
- Use the submission form at /submit. Listings are free.
- How do I pitch a story or request coverage for my band?
- Same form: /submit. Editorial coverage is curated based on the writer's interest and scene context.
- Do you charge for listings or features?
- No. We don't do paid placements or paid reviews.
Photos and video
- Can I use Sac Setlist photos or video for my band's promo?
- Photos and videos we shoot ourselves (or have license to) are licensable on request. Event covers we scrape from third parties for show discovery are display-only — those aren't ours to license. Reach out via /about to ask about specific images.
- How do I request removal of a photo or video?
- Email us through /about. We respond promptly to takedown requests, especially for scraped material.
About us and contact
- Who runs Sac Setlist?
- Jason Pierce, a Sacramento photojournalist who has been covering local music since 2019 (originally as Sactunes on YouTube). Editorial contributions come from writer / editor / video host Myki Angeline.
