Harlow's Nightclub is backing AB 1720, the state ticketing bill known as the Fans First Act. In posts on its Facebook and Instagram, the venue said the measure would cap resale prices on platforms like StubHub and Vivid Seats at no more than 10 percent over a ticket's face value.

"This would mean those tickets you look for at those sold out shows will be MUCH more affordable once this passes," the venue wrote. It thanked Senate Majority Leader Angelique Ashby for the support to pass the bill.

What AB 1720 does

AB 1720, authored by Assemblymember Matt Haney, cleared the Assembly committee on arts, entertainment, sports and tourism and is advancing. It applies to concerts, comedy and theater. Professional sports events are exempt. The bill has backing from the National Independent Venue Association.

For a Sacramento room that regularly sells out shows, the position puts Harlow's on the side of fans over the resale markup.
